A trip to the Doctor’s Office

We took Madeline in for her 12 month check-up today…only about a week late. I was surprised to learn that she is still a few ounces shy of 21 pounds (a gain of only about a pound and a half in three months), and her head hasn’t really grown at all since her last doctor’s visit. She has, however, grown about an inch and a half in that time span, a fact that is obvious by her now hitting her head on things she used to be able to walk under.

Madeline made it through two more shots and overall this trip to the doctor’s office was a bit more enjoyable than other recent trips. We decided to try out a family practicioner at the McFarland Clinic West that is near our house. I’m not sure if I have a strong opinion yet about Pediatrics vs. Family Practice for meeting kids health care needs, but I do think the doctor we saw today is a better personality fit for us (or me, at least) than the pediatrician Madeline had been seeing. I’m not sure yet if we will stick with this family practicioner or try out another one, but I do really like the convenience of having the Doctor’s office within a two minute drive!

Holiday Weekend Bargains

We went to Minnesota for the long holiday weekend. In between family gatherings, we mananged to score a few bargains. We got an 80-gig hard drive that will be $20 after we receive $70 in rebates. As I write this, Tony is using the hard drive as the key item in creating a media computer that will store all of our digital music files and control our upstairs stereo! Yeah for technology…I can’t wait for the project to be completed.

Going to Saint Cloud usually means a trip to Savers, a thrift store that is larger and tends to have better stuff than most Salvation Armys or Goodwills that I have seen. This trip was no exception, but it was a much better trip than usual because we just happened to hit one of Saver’s occaisonal “50% off Everything” sales. We walked out of there with a whole stack of clothes for Madeline and a small cast-iron skillet for only $15. Amazing!
